Big competition for Biloela
HUNDREDS of young swimmers made their way to Biloela last weekend to compete in the 33rd Biloela Open Preparation Meet.
Hosted by the Biloela Bluefins, long-distance races were completed on Friday night, November 2, with the remaining 125 events on Saturday, November 3.
The weekend welcomed hot and sunny weather for the competition, which saw 200 swimmers participate from 14 clubs around the region, with each individual competing to beat their own personal bests.
Clubs that travelled to support the Biloela Open included those from Barcaldine, Blackwater, Boyne Tannum, Caribeae, Fairymead, Gladstone, Gladstone South, Hervey Bay, Moura, Mundubbera, Rocky City, Western Suburbs (Gladstone) and Yeppoon.
Biloela Bluefins' Sheree Petty would like to thank all the volunteers and committee members "for all the tireless hours and organisation before, during and after the carnival”.
"Without your dedication and commitment, carnivals of this magnitude would not happen,” she said.
Biloela Bluefins were happy with the turnout for the 33rd event and said it wouldn't have been possible without their sponsors - B&S Kitchens, Jumping Beanz Embroidery, Biloela Shoppingworld, Gilligan's Ireland Swim Academy, AMA Maintenance Alliance, FCF Fire and Electrical and Biloela Home Timber and Hardware.
