Breaking the mental health stigma

PRIORITISING your mental health was on the agenda in Biloela thanks to CQ Rural Health’s “Mindfulness@ Melton”event.

Funded by the Queensland Mental Health Commission, the event at Melton Park was to acknowledge World Mental Health Day and provide activities and lectures to showcase different approaches to improving mental health.

It also gave attendees the opportunity to connect with others in their community.

Megan Watterson from CQRH was pleased with how the proceedings ran.

“The catchphrase for World Mental Health Day is to take time for mental health,” she said.

“Removing that stigma, getting people talking – and today was all about getting people to connect and see what way they can address their mental health.”

Running from 9am-1pm, Mindfulness@Melton delivered a free, family-friendly day, offering a barbecue and activities for the whole community.
