Capras gunning for victory against Jets in Woorabinda
RUGBY LEAGUE: The Central Queensland Capras have not had a good start to the season, winning only one match from their past eight games.
The Capras won their first game of the season in the first round against Souths Logan Magpies, beating the Magpies 36-14 in an impressive attacking display of football.
After the game, coach David Faiumu praised his players for their sustained effort and sticking to their game plan.
"I am just pleased with the boys and their efforts,” the former Kiwi Test international told Queensland Rugby League Media.
Since then, the Capras have not had any winning success and sit at the bottom of the Intrust Super Cup table.
The Capras returned to Rockhampton last weekend after a 4-40 loss to the Townsville Blackhawks.
Both teams were in desperate need of a win following the Capras' recent losing streak and the Blackhawks' upset loss to Norths Devils the weekend before.
Capras scored the first try of the game after a Blackhawks drop ball from the kick-off.
The Blackhawks then settled into their game plan and piled on 40 unanswered points to come away with their fifth win for the season.
The Capras will take on eighth-placed Ipswich Jets tomorrow at 4pm at Woorabinda.
A program of community events is also scheduled to take place on the day.
