Country music festival to rock the socks off

THOUSANDS will pack into the Biloela showgrounds in a fortnight for their very own homegrown VDMFest music festival.

Held at the Biloela showgrounds and in its third instalment, the annual Rock Edge Country Music Festival is back with some of the best country music talent across Central Queensland and beyond.

VDMFest creator and Biloela local Mark Di Ruggiero said VDMFest was perhaps the biggest event to come to Biloela.

“I can’t ever recall anything of this magnitude in Biloela before,” Mr Di Ruggiero said.

“We have three major signed artists playing here as well as a fantastic Aussie line-up.

“I would say it’s on track to being better than last year.”

Di Ruggiero hopes, by bringing a music festival to Biloela, he can help bring a tourism boost to the region.

“I keep saying last year the crowd was made up of 70% of out-of-towners and there’s going to be a higher percentage this year,” Mr Di Ruggiero said.

“My endgame here is to have Biloela become a hub for a major festival and bring people to showcase our town.

“The bigger it grows the more the town will benefit especially with motels and retail purchases.”

Headline acts include Adam Brand, Brad Cox and Casey Barnes as well as Central Queensland acts like Anna Farquhar.

Gates open at 10am for campers and at 3pm for general admission with the first act under way at 4pm, October 12.
