THE GROUNDS of Callide Dam foreshore were filled with excited children on Wednesday as families came out for the grand opening of the new playground.
"Council was extremely pleased with the turnout. It was a great community event and seemed to be enjoyed by all community members who attended,” a representative said.
”It was fantastic to see so many people come out and enjoy the playground, have a sausage and enjoy the activities on offer.”
The Callide Dam Recreation Area Playground project was fully funded using $130,000 of Works for Queensland program funding.
"The combination of different play equipment and shade sails will provide a sun-safe environment that children of all ages can enjoy,” the council representative said.
"The installation of this playground has enhanced the dam foreshore and will encourage visitors to utilise one of the shire's up and coming tourist destinations.”
As Callide Dam turns into a bustling area, with the Lake Callide Retreat also up and running, the council indicated there could be more plans for the foreshore in the future.
"At this point council is looking to gauge the benefit and use of the current facilities and will re-evaluate its position on extending the facilities provided at this park at a future time.”
