One step closer to the decider

FOOTBALL: JUST one more obstacle to overcome to secure a grand final berth.

The Biloela Valleys Division 1 men's squad had a resounding 4-0 victory over Central last Sunday to book their spot in the preliminary final.

Team captain Rob Singleton said getting out of the blocks strongly with two early goals was the plan heading in.

"We thought if we could come out and score early,

we thought that pressure would be enough to put them out of the game,” Singleton said.

"That turned out to be the way it went.”

After being knocked out in the semi-finals last season, Singleton said there was a lot of belief and excitement around the club this time around.

"Last year we didn't get through at that stage of the finals but this year we have,” he said.

"We're excited, one game from the grand final.

"We've been confident that this is the strongest squad we've put together for a number of years.

"We were confident throughout the season we could do something special.”

Valleys will face BITS in the preliminary final on Saturday night, a clash in which it is hard to pick a favourite.

"We're confident in the way we play,” Singleton

"We've had mixed results, we've beaten, lost to them and drew with them.

"If we pull together with our strongest squad, we can go there and get a win.”

Singleton's side will play BITS at 7pm at Boyne Island Tannum Sands FC, with the winner to face Clinton FC in the grand final.
