Panthers set to charge Norths
RUGBY LEAGUE: The Biloela Panthers senior sides will head to Rockhampton this Saturday to take on the Norths Chargers at Browne Park.
All three grades will be out to get much needed competition points to secure a top-four position.
The A Grade game will kick off at 6.30pm at Browne Park and Panthers coach Graeme Middlebrooke is optimistic of the team's chances.
The last time the two teams met, the final score was 26-4 to Norths.
"They (Norths) rolled us in round one and it proved to be a bit of an eye opener and gave us a bit of an insight to what to expect for the season,” Middlebrooke said.
"Our aim tomorrow will be to be competitive against Norths, work on the team's confidence and after 60 minutes into the back end of the game anything can happen from there.
"I can't fault the effort of the players they put in with their positive attitudes but there are areas of play we will have to work on at training.”
Middlebrooke wanted to emphasise the Panthers were not in the competition just to make up numbers and considered the team a chance to make the top-four semi-finals.
"One of goals for the players is to go out and
play better than their opposite number and play the type of football we need to and play in the semis,” he said.
The Biloela Panthers Reggies play at 5pm, Biloela Panthers under-20s kick off at 3.30pm.
Middlebrooke also wanted to remind rugby league fans in the region about the upcoming Intrust Super Cup heading their way.
The Central Queensland Capras are scheduled to take on Souths Logan Magpies on June 15 at the Rainbow St sporting fields.
There will be a five game program for the day.
Gate fees are $10 adults,
$5 high school students and pensioners, and free entry for children under five.
