Sporting future looks bright for Biloela Valleys FC
BILOELA'S Valleys Football Club will want Labor candidate for Flynn Zac Beers to deliver on his commitment to fund much needed new lighting infrastructure if Labor is successful in the upcoming federal election.
Mr Beers was in Biloela this week with Shadow Minister for Early Childhood Education and Development Amanda Rishworth to pledge $300,000 to upgrade sporting facilities, including Callide Valley Tennis Association.
Biloela Valleys FC president Brad Smith said if they received the funding for the light infrastructure, it would have a great benefit.
"The lighting will help to create a better structure for both junior and senior football teams,” Mr Smith said.
"The current lighting makes it hard to train at night and we can't host night games because it doesn't meet safety standards.”
The football club is looking for funding of between $100,000 to $150,000 for lighting.
"The improvement of the lighting will not only benefit our club but also the whole complex as well,” he said.
Mr Beers said Labor's commitment would ensure Banana Shire kids and locals would be able to enjoy participating in sport for years to come.
"I strongly believe that communities like Biloela deserver any support we can give to make sure that locals in regional areas can continue to enjoy a healthy and happy lifestyle,” Mr Beers said.
