Wandal teenager involved in fight at pub before death
2.30pm: INVESTIGATIONS into the death of 18-year-old Wandal teen Kurtis West have continued today as searches of nearby areas are conducted.
Police and SES volunteers searched roadways, bush tracks and the area surrounding Jambin Dekenbah Road, Bongers Lane and Argoon Highway today while detectives conducted further investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
A postem mortem forensic examination is expected to be undertaken tomorrow which may provide further evidence in relation to his death.
There is no further information available at this time.
6am: THE parents of a Wandal teenager made the heart-breaking journey to Biloela yesterday to identify the body of their son, after it was found near a railway line at Argoon.
Kurtis West (pictured), 18, was found by a passing motorist around 3:40am yesterdayon the Jambin- Dakenbah Rd.
Detective Senior Sergeant Scott Moon told The Morning Bulletin yesterday morning forensic officers and detectives were working tirelessly to find out the cirumstances surrounding the death.
However, police last night said the death was being treated as suspicious.
Det Snr Sgt Moon said the boy's parents were distraught with the news of his death.
"I have been with the family this (yesterday) morning and they are very upset as one would expect," he said.
Det Snr Sgt Moon said police established a crime scene where the body was found.
"We understand from our investigations he wasn't there for a very long period of time from being located," he said.
Police investigations have revealed Kurtis was at the Jambin Pub that night.
Reports on television news last night said Kurtis was involved in a fight at the pub.
Det Snr Sgt Moon said police were appealing for information from anyone who saw the deceased at the pub, in the Jambin shop area or walking or even in a vehicle along Jambin-Dakenbah Rd.
